It’s Not the End

After your season of suffering, God in all his grace will restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.  1 Peter 5:10

god's story never ends

Your husband’s death feels like the end of your world, and in a way, it is.  It’s the end of your life as you know it, but it’s not the end.  It’s the end of a chapter, and if you’re like me, it was a really good set of chapters.  In fact, you envisioned you and your husband as the main characters in the story of your life until the end.  But God had a different ending in mind.  It’s not one you chose.  It’s not one you wanted.  But it’s one he chose for you.  Therefore, it’s perfect.

God has taken your husband, but he has left you on this earth for a reason.  Maybe it’s to raise your children in the ways of the Lord so they would make an impact in our dark world.  Maybe it’s to continue the work of your husband.  Or maybe God has a new mission for you.  Whatever the reason, you can be assured that God has work for you to do, and your story can still end with “happily ever after.”  It’s hard to be waiting in the middle of your story.  It’s hard to wait not knowing what the future holds for you or your children, but God knows.  Sister, that’s enough.  We have to believe that he has our best in mind, and one day, he will redeem our pain and heartbreak.  He knows the desires of our heart, and he alone can grant them.  So today, let’s rest in that.  Know that you are deeply loved by our almighty, all-powerful Father in heaven, and let him write the story of your life as your pursue Him with all of your energy and strength.
